SEMPBA Volunteers

SEMPBA is building a network of public and private organizations and individuals to raise awareness and engage the community in programs and projects to conserve and restore the Greater Pine Barrens of southeastern Massachusetts. We are all volunteers. It's going to take a lot of volunteers to save the Ecoregion. Please join us.

Volunteer Opportunities

Pine Barren Ambassadors
SEMPBA Ambassadors promote awareness of the southeastern Massachusetts Pine Barrens for all ages through direct contact with the public. We need volunteers who have knowledge or are willing to learn about the natural and cultural resources of the region and share their expertise with others. Ambassadors lead hikes, share information about native plants and landscaping to enhance habitat or engage visitors to the SEMPBA's mini nature center in playful environmental learning. Research Compiler
SEMPBA needs volunteers who can identify and review scientific data and research on the SE Mass Pine Barrens, including data and information gathered or generated by SEMPBA volunteers.

Writer
SEMPBA needs volunteers who can turn scientific data and research on the SE Mass Pine Barrens, including data and information gathered or generated by SEMPBA volunteers, into attractive and easily understood written material for the public.

Clerical Aide
SEMPBA needs volunteers to help with administrative tasks such as volunteer coordinator, office manager.

Field Assessors
SEMPBA needs volunteers to assess and monitor parcels of Pine Barrens Habitat on public lands. Field Assessors receive training and are expected to do light field work involving walking trails and recording observations.

Data Reviewer
SEMPBA needs a detail-oriented volunteer capable of reviewing field assessments for completeness and appropriateness before sending them on to NHESP.

Website developer
SEMPBA needs a volunteer knowledgeable in Adobe Suite products, applications including GIS, & widgets to develop and maintain SEMPBA's website.
