Goal: CoCoRaHS (pronounced KO-ko-rozz) is a grassroots volunteer network of backyard weather observers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow) in their local communities.
Who can participate: Anyone with an interest in weather patterns and a desire to understand how weather impacts our lives. The measurements must be taken from gauges located at Center Hill Preserve, so the ability to get to our headquarters off Center Hill Road in the early morning is critical.
What would I do?: Choose at least one day of the week when you can visit our precipitation station within the Center Hill Preserve in the early morning to record precipitation levels. This data will then be provided to the CoCoRaHS (Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow) website.
Why is it important?: By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web-site, CoCoRaHS aims to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications.
